Works Great, but Be Warned of Burning Hazard(s)Dec 21, 2008

Not too big for little tanks, and not too small for the larger ones. This lamp is great for reptiles, and doesn't even require the clamp (if adjusted correctly). This can easily be placed upon a tanks lid. Honestly the whole unit becomes hot, the light bulb may play as a variable here though. The top half isn't as scorching as the the lower segment obviously, but still not something you want remaining in your hand.
Upon opening the box one will find the clamp and a few parts needed to assemble it. The lamp has a pretty simple on/off switch, too bad there isn't a way to increase or decrease the strength.
Only problem here is when trying to open a tank and having to set this somewhere. Mainly due to burning hazards I suggest you plan ahead on as to where to plant this bugger. Do note as the above reviewer has mentioned, this does not include a bulb. I spent roughly twenty bucks, so four eleven this is a great deal. Now my new bearded dragon can bask on his rock, and not worry about an autoheating rock that may malfunction ( it also usually upsets their undersides). If you own a reptile Zoo Med's lamp is something work investing upon.

Heat LampDec 23, 2011
By R. popella We bought this haet lamp for are birds because they kept getting uri. After using it for a month my birds are no longer sick. It came with a clamp on it in which I never used. I have it hanging from my ceiling over the bird cage over where the earch for the night. I have it about 2 inches above the cage because the lamp it hot to touch and I don't want there little feet or beeks to get burnt. I just wished it would not be so hot.

GREAT!Nov 28, 2010
By C. Feng Positive:
Great quality!
Easy to turn on and off!
Does what it needs to, shine a bulb on my turtles!
Negative:
It is not very well put together. It definitely won't fall apart on you but you can shake the lamp and see the parts shake. If that makes sense. Everything is not tightly put together. But that is not an issue with me! It works fine and doesn't break.
Good Lamp for one animalApr 23, 2011
By K. Gerber I use this lamp for my turtle and it works fine. stays clamped onto the side of his tank easily and securely, Good for focusing on a small basking area. It is a little loose so positioning is not easy, but I just let it point straight down on my turtle's basking rock and it works fine. Otherwise, works great, easy to turn on and off with switch on cord.
