Thinking outside the box - craftersDec 16, 2006

I am using this for a purpose which probably voids the warranty, but works well. It adjusts my crafting (wood) burner so that it is cool enough to work with wax.
Perfect.

temp not controlledApr 07, 2011
By Adam Orlowski I picked up this product with the idea of controlling the temperatures in my ball pythons enclosure but even on this rheostat's lowest setting it was still way to hot. If this is used in conjunction with an under tank heated save yourself the money and just get a plug in lamp dimmer for home depot.

keeps the temp. warm not too hotFeb 20, 2010
By Janessa J. Chavez this product keeps the under tank heater and lamp at a good warm for summer and can be turned to a hotter temp. for winter. I LOVE IT. only thing is that it took some wiggles to get the plugs in.

Dangerous for reptilesAug 14, 2011
By Tom Mertes This thing even at its lowest setting remains way too hot. Your reptile can suffer severe burns that result in illness, death and unneeded veterinary bills. I'd agree with the other reviewer. Avoid this product.
Poor product.Dec 04, 2011
By dragonkeeper I bought this to control my bearded dragon's basking spot temps. I use a reptitemp 500r for my other lizard, and it works great, but it is a bit more expensive, so I bought this hoping to get almost the same results. This is the worst rheostat. I plugged it into a clamp lamp rated for 150 watts, and within a week the rheostat dial melted. Most reptile lamps need to be approved for 150 watts or more, and I had a 100 watt bulb plugged in. This rheostat should not have malfunctioned. Pay a bit more and get a better rheostat or, just go to home depot and get a dimmer.
