Hermit Crab HeaterAug 29, 2008
By Donald P. Lisle This heater attaches under the tank and keeps the area of the tank warm so that your Crabs don't get to cold. You can feel the heat come up through the sand and uses very little electricity.

Its GoodSep 29, 2009
By K. Ruggiero I have a small plastic tank around 3 gallons and it keeps it about 3 degrees warmer than the house. The directions tell you if you have a plastic tank to stick it on the side as opposed to underneath. My reccomendation if you are going to put it on the side is to position it more toward the bottom of the tank. I stuck mine towards the top and I think a lot of the heat escapes. Overall its a good investment especially if you live in the north east.

I've had this for a long while and the heat doesn't travel through sand as well as I hoped, so if you put in on the bottom you'll see you crabs digging to get to the warmth. I have mine on the side for those that like to dig and those that like to stay above and enjoy the rest of the crabitat.

Does it's jobNov 25, 2009
By L. A. Cotter I paid about double the price for this at our local pet shop, wish I had seen it here first, but it does work. My son has a plastic tank and we put it on the side as recommended and you can feel the heat coming off it. It does not keep the tank that much warmer, but our house is usually about 67-69 degrees in the winter, so it is enough to keep it more comfortable for the crabs. I put it near the bottom of the tank and put their hermie hut next to it, they hang out in there all the time.

Great!Nov 30, 2011
By radi0chik I actually have this setup in my hedgehog cage, under the "tube" she sleeps in. Keeps her warm, and she keeps going back there to sleep, so I take it she likes her heated floor. I wouldn't want her to sleep on the bare mat, the cardboard tube she sleeps in is one I got from a pet store that's approx 1/4" thick. This keeps her from getting TOO hot. Great heater for a great price!
